Synopsis & Introduction
“I’ve been called by India!” Driven by pure intuition, filmmaker Kim Seung-yong grabs a handycam and sets off on a solo journey through the heart of India.
Through his lens, we witness religion, poverty, breathtaking nature, and a unique philosophy on life and death. Along the way, he captures the local people, wandering backpackers, and a colorful cast of Japanese-fluent locals at the legendary “Kumiko House” guesthouse—including Kumiko herself and other Japanese travelers captivated by India’s spell.
Kim captures this beautiful chaos with an honest, unvarnished gaze. This 75-minute documentary offers a raw look at India that will completely reshuffle your mind and heart. If you find yourself chuckling at the charming, playful nature of the locals, India might just be calling you, too!
Edited entirely by Kim himself from over 120 hours of raw footage, this latest masterpiece is a must-watch for restless wanderers aching to travel and young souls curious about the world beyond their borders.
Celebrity Endorsements & Comments
── UA (Singer)
“Subverting expectations in the best possible way—that is so typical of Kim. It kept me laughing the whole way through! It also made me reexamine Japan. Next time, I’m definitely watching it with my son.”
── Wong Wing Tsan (Pianist)
“Time to hit the road! A journey to find yourself? I’d say it’s more of a journey to dismantle yourself. To break down the rigid, small ego we trap ourselves in… and to meet a brand-new self, you have to break down who you used to be. For that, India might just be the perfect place (though I’ve never actually been there, haha!). Kim Seung-yong is your guide. He and the local guides look just like brothers… Let’s go to India to meet Kim!”
── mic (Cinema Stylist)
“It has been over a decade since I visited India. I thought I’d never forget the shock and exhilaration of witnessing that intense, raw life energy. Yet today, I find myself constantly anxious, checking food labels for cesium. While Kim’s camera captures an India that remains unchanged—moving around freely, casually, and joyfully—watching it forced me to confront my current self and the state of Japan. Kim’s work always has this power to transport my soul straight to the land he films, revealing the hidden depths of my own heart. I truly believe this is a gift born from his unique talent and character.”
