Stories from a Backpacker’s Journey

Travel not as a tourist,
but as a witness to the world.
These documentaries were created without sponsors,
scripts, or staged direction —
born from journeys taken alone
with a camera and curiosity.
From the remote Tibetan Plateau
to little-known corners of Asia,
each film captures encounters with people,
cultures, and the unseen layers of the world
through the eyes of a backpacker.

Profile: Kim Seungyong
Documentary Filmmaker / Backpacker
Once, on paths traveled without a map, I looked into the eyes of the people I met. There, I found a “truth” far more powerful than any scripted story.
I have no need for corporate agendas, meticulous staging, or predetermined endings. Carrying my camera alone, I travel wherever the wind takes me. My journey is not about consuming landscapes as a tourist, but about witnessing and recording the world exactly as it is.
From the remote highlands of Tibet to the nameless villages across Asia—my documentaries are the journeys themselves. I seek to gather the beautiful, poignant fragments of “human existence” that slip through the cracks of a modern society obsessed with efficiency and economics.
It is my hope that my curiosity, captured through the lens of my camera, will serve as a gateway to a new world for you.
